The Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco has announced a grant for the launch of a new international project "Arctic Academy for Sustainable Development: Environmentally and socially responsible development of the Energy and resource base in the Arctic".

The Prince Albert II Foundation of Monaco has announced a grant for the launch of a new international project "Arctic Academy for Sustainability: Creating Environmentally and Socially Responsible Sustainable Energy and Resource Development in the Arctic".

The project will be implemented by Tyumen State University together with partner organizations of Denmark (CBS Copenhagen Business School), Finland (University of Helsinki) and Canada (University of Northern British Columbia). Within three years of the project, the Arctic Academy will hold four scientific forums and a course for graduate students. The number of invited graduate students will be 15-20 people. It is planned that one of the first forums will be held in Tyumen.

The Arctic Academy will bring together researchers and young scientists representing various disciplines, including law, sociology, economics, political science, business, geography, biology, ecology, ethnography, and energy-related disciplines. In addition, the forum will bring together local communities, organizations of small indigenous peoples of the North, business leaders, non-governmental organizations and government officials. According to Andrey Tolstikov, Acting First Vice-rector of TSU, the new project of creating the Arctic Academy will improve interdisciplinary communication and exchange of knowledge gained in various scientific fields, and provide an understanding of social responsibility as the practice of implementing the activities of various organizations in the Arctic.

The project will be implemented in accordance with the program of activities of the West Siberian Interregional Scientific and Educational Center on the thematic focus " Arctic: Cold World resources and the state of the environment. Man in the Arctic" and will ensure the development of broad international scientific collaborations.
