The problem of permafrost melting, protection of the northern infrastructure from the effects of climate change and other areas of cooperation were discussed on November 21 at a meeting in the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Aisen Nikolaev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The head of Yakutia congratulated the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences on taking office and stressed that the Academy of Sciences was and remains the main scientific institution of the country.

Aisen Nikolaev noted that various scientific studies are being conducted in the region, including those related to the study of permafrost and the preservation of the stability of the infrastructure of the territory of the Republic.

The head of the region said that in 2023 Yakutsk plans to host the international scientific community in the framework of the conference on climate and permafrost melting. The Governor also spoke about the successes of the RAS Complex Scientific Expeditions in Yakutia.
