Four dozen experts and young leaders in the field of science and education visited the Perm University, and also discussed the center's experience in supporting advanced research and new forms of vocational education.

The meeting was held as part of a visiting meeting of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council for Science and Education. The event was also attended by employees of the Presidential Office for Scientific and Educational Policy, winners of the youth competition "Leaders of Russia" in the track "Science", as well as representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod REC and the recently established in Arkhangelsk REC "Russian Arctic: new materials, technologies and research methods".

"The Coordinating Council holds field meetings twice a year. Our proposal to hold such a meeting in the Perm Region was met with interest.

As far as I know, my colleagues' expectations were contradictory. Someone had very good ideas about our region, cooperating with our scientists, for example, in the direction of "Photonics". Others, on the contrary, knew absolutely nothing about the development of science and education in the region, and their impressions of the region were formed by something like the series "Real Boys", - said Alexander Nikolaev, chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Perm Region and a member of the Coordinating Council.

During the tour, the council members and young scientists got acquainted with the laboratories and research of the Perm REC in the field of hydrocarbon production and processing.

At the meeting with the REC management, the guests were actively interested in the experience and "everyday life" of the center. Pavel Ilyushin, Director of the ANO REC "Rational Subsoil Use", as well as Ekaterina Cherepanova, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Perm Region, answered questions about the experience of launching REC, the starting and actual management model of the center, "pitfalls" in the work of REC, which can take into account the newly created centers, as well as personal qualities necessary for the head of REC and tools for involving business and the leadership of the region in the work of REC.

The meeting at the REC, which was the end of a busy business program of the visit, was preceded by an acquaintance with the first private technopark in the region, Morion Digtal, an excursion to the central engineering and technological service of LUKOIL-Perm, to the mine of the Usolsky potash plant of EuroChem, as well as meetings with the deputy chairman of the government of the Perm Region Alexey Chernikov and the Minister of Education and Science of the Perm Region Raisa Kassina.

"The impressions from the tour of the REC are extremely positive, a clear idea of the applied directions that are developing in the center has been formed. The demonstrated developments made it possible to once again make sure that science in Russia is at a high level not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg," Nikita Marchenkov, Chairman of the Coordinating Council, shared his impressions.
