On the eve of the international popular science festival "Dinoterra", which will be held from June 17 to 19 in the village of Shestakovo, events dedicated to this event have started in the region. Scientists of Kemerovo State University were the first to join them, where an international round table was held – "The unique Kuzbass – Shestakovo microdistrict: study, preservation, popularization", and institutions of the Chebulinsky Municipal District.

The participants of the discussion were archaeologists, historians, paleontologists from Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia.

Kuzbass scientists noted the invaluable contribution of Anatoly Ivanovich Martynov to the study of this complex. Thanks to his research, large-scale archaeological work was carried out in the area of the village of Shestakovo in the 1950s and 1960s. Then 10 mounds of the early Iron Age belonging to the Tagar and Tashtyk cultures were found and investigated. A unique find was a clay sculptural image of the head of a buried man with a ram's head inside. In 1971, the materials of the investigated archaeological complex were published and put into scientific circulation, which made it possible to restore some pages of the unwritten history of our region. In addition, as a result of the research work of Kemerovo and Novosibirsk scientists, it was found that the Shestakov Late Paleolithic site is one of the oldest (about 40 thousand years) and the most valuable archaeological sites of Western and Southern Siberia.

Also, as a result of the discussion, it was noted that the discovery of a unique paleontological complex in the village of Shestakov makes this place attractive not only for archaeologists, but also paleontologists from all over the world. Thanks to the finds of the remains of dinosaurs, mammoths, bison, Shestakovo becomes a famous tourist center in Russia and abroad.
