EVRAZ ZSMK and JSC "Russian Railways" have launched a joint project that will allow metallurgists and railway workers to track the path of each rail from the moment of production and shipment to the consumer, during its operation, until disposal.
A unified corporate automated infrastructure management system for monitoring the life cycle of rails is implemented on the blockchain platform (Hyperledger Fabric). A participant's node is installed and connected at EVRAZ ZSMK, which provides a secure online exchange of data on the supply and further operation of the plant's products.
Each EVRAZ ZSMK rail has an electronic passport - a document confirming its quality. It contains chemical composition, steel grade and other important characteristics. Now, during shipment, this information is automatically uploaded to the new system, after which each participant in the process can track everything that happens to the rail in real time.
The operating party also enters information about the rails into the general database at each stage: in which lash they are welded, where they are laid, when they are removed from the track and for what reason. The system receives data on the formation of defects, repairs carried out.
This system will help JSC "Russian Railways" to receive data on deliveries in an automated form, and EVRAZ will be able to take into account operational parameters and continue improving rail products.
