"Kamchatka has serious prospects in the development of science. The peninsula is a large natural laboratory, where there are all opportunities for conducting
various studies. This is our competitive advantage compared to other regions. First of all, we are talking about studies of volcanoes and seismics of the World Ocean, rivers, nature reserves and wildlife," Vladimir Solodov said.
The Governor also informed about the importance of developing a comprehensive program of scientific research in Kamchatka, called on young scientists of the region to take an active part and propose the most significant areas of research.
During the meeting, young scientists told about their projects. Sergey Ostroukhov, an engineer of the first category of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, presented a development for super-dense networks of seismic impacts on buildings and structures. Dmitry Yastrebov, a fourth-year postgraduate student of the Department of "Power Plants and Electrical Equipment of Ships" of Kamchatka State Technical University, spoke about the development of technical support for corrosion protection control of ships and offshore structures. The Engineer of the Laboratory of Ecology of Higher Vertebrates of the Kamchatka branch of the Pacific Institute of Geography Egor Vasyukov reported on the assessment of the state of wintering sea lions of the Avacha Bay.
Then Vladimir Solodov continued to communicate with young scientists and answered questions concerning the organization of scientific activities in the Kamchatka Territory.
Recall that by Presidential Decree in the Russian Federation, a thematic decade – the Decade of Science and Technology - has been announced in the country since 2022.
