By the Day of Russian Science, as well as within the framework of the Decade of Science in Yakutia, scientists The Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) dedicated an entire program dedicated to the world scientific discovery.

Recall that in 2010, the community "Yukagir" on the shore of the Laptev Sea, and this is the Ust- Yansky district of Yakutia, a mammoth carcass was found, later named mammoth Yuka. It was a 6-8-year-old mammoth weighing 106 kilograms, who lived about 39 thousands of years ago.

The specimen has preserved soft tissues, brain and wool, which were shown in this video, and most importantly, viewers will be able to contemplate the special structure of its unique trunk, specially adapted by evolution to Siberian frosts.
Paradoxically, it was in 2012 that Yakut scientists, after decades of international efforts to study mammoth anatomy, drew attention to a special
trunk structure. As scientists from the Department of mammoth fauna of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) found out, justifying the hypothesis about the purpose of such trunk morphology, comparison with the trunks of other mammoths found, confirmed that this is not an individual feature, but a trait inherent in the whole species "Mammuthus primigenius".
Innokenty Pavlov is a researcher at the Academy of Sciences of Yakutia, from his youth, familiar with the anatomy of northern wild and domestic animals, as well as with
the phenomenon of the Yakut cold, I was able to fix with the experienced eye of a professional taxidermist the above—mentioned feature of the trunk structure of a woolly elephant mammoth. The Yakut Cold and the northern animals suggested the solution of this phenomenon to the Yakut scientists.
