The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation has approved the transfer of the Kemerovo Botanical Garden from municipal property to federal property. Recall that in the fall of 2020, the botanical garden was transferred for free use to Kemerovo State University (the base organization of the Kuzbass REC). The book value of the object is 330 million rubles.

The Botanical Garden sets itself the following tasks: to continue the collection in artificial conditions of a collection of living plants of scientific and cultural importance. It is also planned to preserve, study, enrich the gene pool by preserving botanical collections, carry out educational and industrial activities, exchange experience and cooperation with botanical gardens in Russia.

- The botanical garden features plants from America, Africa, Japan, Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia. It is important for us to preserve and replenish our collections, to establish production for the propagation of indoor and exotic plants. On the basis of the botanical garden, we plan to conduct industrial practice for biologists and landscape designers. There is an idea of organizing an internship for engineers. We have modern climate control equipment that would be interesting for them to work with. To maintain the necessary conditions, the botanical garden is equipped with modern programmable temperature and watering control. The garden is divided into two greenhouses: one created conditions for a more humid tropical climate, the other - subtropics. It is necessary to develop infrastructure, - said Nadezhda Burova, director of the botanical garden since May 2021. Previously, she worked in the laboratory of reclamation and biomonitoring of the Federal Research Center for Coal and Coal Chemistry SB RAS.

The Botanical Garden is visited not only by residents of Kuzbass and residents of neighboring regions, but also from other countries.
