In total, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation received 32 applications from scientific organizations in the country, 17 of them were sent to the Interdepartmental Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation to consider the creation of seed breeding centers, breeding centers and agrobiotechnoparks. 8 applications were approved, including by the Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences.
When considering applications for the creation of breeding centers, the following criteria were taken into account: the scientific background of the organization and scientific and technological infrastructure, the level of human resources, cooperation with enterprises in the real sector of the economy, contribution to the implementation of the Food Security Doctrine, project development strategy, scientific and scientific and technical performance indicators of the program implementation.
In addition to the Kemerovo Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture, centers will be created in seven priority areas for solving the tasks of the national project: poultry farming, meat and dairy cattle breeding, sheep and goat breeding, bast crops, viticulture and nursery production, potatoes, corn, beekeeping in the Moscow, Ryazan, Tver regions, Stavropol and Primorsky Territories and the Republic of Crimea.
The task set for the formed centers is to provide agricultural producers with domestic selection and genetic material in order to achieve the indicators of food independence of the Russian Federation. To this end, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has planned a set of measures, including updating the park of agricultural machinery of scientific institutions and providing grants for the development of breeding and seed-growing and breeding centers in 2021-2024 for a total amount of 3.675 billion rubles.
