20/07/2021

KuzSTU named after T.F. Gorbachev (participant of the REC "Kuzbass") presented a space orbital greenhouse at the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021. The megaproject is being implemented by the Kuzbass State Technical University, the Kuzbass State Agricultural Academy, several universities and research institutes of Tomsk.

The development is an autonomous module in which food will be grown for astronauts working in Earth orbit. In particular, these are string beans, basil, parsley, leeks, spinach, various types of salads.

The orbital greenhouse is equipped with "smart" lighting that accelerates plant growth, special hydroponic installations, an automatic irrigation and harvesting system. The greenhouse is being developed taking into account possible use on the Moon or on Mars.

Another space project that KuzSTU is presenting at MAKS is the Kuzbass 300 nanosatellite.

Today, on July 20, the contests "Congratulate Kuzbass from orbit" and "Postcard from space", dedicated to the anniversary of the region, started. Any inhabitant of the planet can take part in the projects. The main prize for the winners will be a trip to the Baikonur cosmodrome.

"These are contests for the best congratulations of Kuzbass and its residents, which will be broadcast in the format of a voice message and a file with slides from the Kuzbass-300 satellite. The aircraft was created by KuzSTU scientists and schoolchildren of the Center for Scientific and Engineering Creativity "Unique". The satellite will be launched into orbit in November 2021. The messages transmitted by the Kuzbass satellite will be able to be received by radio amateurs from all over the world," said Irina Ganieva, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kuzbass.

The Kuzbass-300 satellite will not only broadcast congratulatory messages to Earth, but also transmit images and telemetry data, remotely probe the planet for environmental monitoring and fire monitoring. Inside the satellite will be laid the symbol of Kuzbass - coal.

To participate in the contest "Congratulate Kuzbass from orbit", you must write an original text of no more than 500 characters (with spaces). The five best authors of congratulations will record voice messages for broadcasting from satellite.

Participants of the "Postcard from Space" contest need to prepare graphic drawings and photo collages in JPEG format. Dimensions: for horizontal works — 700 pixels horizontally; for vertical - 700 pixels vertically, file size - no more than 100 KB. The five best works will be broadcast from satellite in the form of files.

The organizers are the administration of the Government of Kuzbass, GTRK "Kuzbass", Kuzbass State Technical University. The contests will be held from July 20 to August 29, 2021. The texts of congratulations and graphic images should be sent to the post office kuzbass300@kuzstu.ru . Detailed information can be found on the website https://kuzstu.ru and by phone: 8 (3842) 68-23-70.

It is planned that the salon will gather more than 140 thousand specialists, as well as more than 570 thousand participants and guests. The exhibition areas of MAKS, which exceed 26 thousand square meters in pavilions and 160 thousand square meters in open areas, will accommodate more than 800 exhibits from 30 countries of the world.
