About 300 Kuzbass schoolchildren from 8 rural schools joined the new season of the project "REC SCHOOLS" - "Digital Agronomy" 2021

The Scientific and Educational Center "Kuzbass" has opened a new, second season of the Digital Agronomy direction of the educational track "REC SCHOOLS". The project is aimed at forming students' ideas about modern agronomy as a promising profession, the place and importance of science in agriculture, the tasks solved by agronomists, the technologies currently used, including information expert systems and Internet decision support services.

The number of participants who joined the project this year has increased. Last season, theoretical and practical classes were given to about 200 middle and high school students from seven schools of Guryev, Promyshlennovsky and Yaysky municipal districts. This year, another school of the Guryev district joined the project.

Konstantin Borovsky, a researcher at the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology (Moscow), will give lectures to the children. Teachers of Kemerovo State University and Kuzbass Agricultural Academy will conduct field consultations, scientists will introduce students to the basics of the method of operation of a mobile digital weather station. This is a necessary condition for high-quality field work (timely application of fertilizers, means of protecting crops from pests to obtain a high yield). Biology teachers will lead the work in schools within the framework of the educational project. Another of the curators of the project is Kuzbass farmer Vyacheslav Sukhovolsky. He participates in the educational track for the second year, his task is to introduce students to potato growing on an industrial scale.

ANO "Scientific and Educational Center "Kuzbass" provided 500 kg of potatoes of the elite variety "Tanai" for the practical part. Currently, 5 schools of the Guryev Municipal District have received seeds. In the coming days, they will be handed over to the rest of the project participants.

A feature of the new season of "Digital Agronomy" is the opportunity for participants from different territories of Kuzbass from the first days of work in the project to exchange knowledge, experience, observations among themselves. Recall that one of the results of the first season of "Digital Agronomy" was the development of the digital portal "agrokuznya.rf". It was created by the children of participating schools from the Guryev municipal district.

The project will be completed in September 2021. The winners will receive awards from the REC "Kuzbass. Evaluation criteria: yield and quality of field work.
