Teams of scientists from the Rostov and Volgograd regions, Krasnodar Krai presented to the experts of the School developments in such areas as biological protection of crops, organic farming, production of environmentally friendly products, water safety, 3D-bioprinting of artificial animal tissues.
- Young, talented, active scientists and students have always remained the main priority for DSTU. All seven projects that were formed by the final are very promising, meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals and will improve the well-being of the regions included in the REC, – said the Rector of DSTU Besarion Meskhi. - Thanks to the interuniversity composition of teams and the format of work proposed by the experts of the Center for Strategic Research "North-West", the participants of the School developed unique projects, established a dialogue between scientific communities and the subjects of the South of Russia.
Teams of scientists from DSTU presented projects:
"Development of a portable soil monitoring device "Mobile Agrochemist"" - the project will allow conducting agrochemical analysis of soil composition for such indicators as acidity, content of primary and secondary minerals, organic substances. The portable device developed by scientists will allow using a microfluidic chip to conduct high-precision analysis of soils at the site of plant cultivation, which will reduce the amount of waste and reagents sprayed on the fields. Such a development will be in demand among agricultural producers, as it will improve the structural condition of soils and optimize the material and time costs of resources due to more rational use of fertilizers and soil treatment.
"Decision Support System for biological plant protection" is a software package for the effective application of biosecurity in crop production. The system will analyze the composition of the soil and predictively determine the rate, composition and time of fertilization. After analyzing the incoming data, the application will send a notification to the user that a particular piece of soil needs to be treated with fertilizers. The complex will allow you to get the best harvest and reduce the risks of crop death to a minimum.
"Development of technology for the production of hybrid cultured meat products– is a project to create a cost-effective technology for the production of hybrid cultured meat products in order to overcome the shortage of food in the world. The development will make it possible to create "meat in a test tube" that is safe for human health and profitable in production.
The teams received an assessment of their developments from invited experts and outlined the further path of project development, bringing them to market.
As part of the development of the program, scientists have completed three educational modules devoted to the position of a key researcher and scientific strategy; business modeling, market definition and development of promotion strategies; organizational design.
MPI School is an educational program for the development of professional skills and career opportunities of young scientists, aimed at forming the personnel position of a key researcher (Principal Investigator), who today plays a major role in the implementation of scientific projects. The project is being implemented with the support of the Government of the Rostov region, Don State Technical University, the Center for Strategic Research "Northwest". The task of the MPI School is to help young scientists develop professional skills and expand career opportunities, enter the personnel reserve of scientific and technological development in the South of Russia.
