Young scientist of Kuzbass Anton Krutikhin was awarded a medal and a prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences

To the young scientist of Kuzbass, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular, translational and digital Medicine of the Research Institute of the CPSSZ (participant of the REC "Kuzbass") Anton Kutikhin was awarded a medal and a prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences dated July 19, 2022, medals of the federal state budgetary institution "Russian Academy of Sciences" were awarded with prizes for young scientists and students of educational programs of higher education organizations based on the results of the 2021 competition. The medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences with a prize of 50,000 rubles for young scientists of Russia was presented to Anton Kutikhin by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Krasnikov at a ceremony in Moscow.

The work "Violations of mineral homeostasis and the formation of calciprotein particles – a new risk factor for the development of endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis" by Anton Kutikhin was highly appreciated.

"Based on our research and data from the world scientific literature, it is safe to say that even a relatively small increase in the concentration of albumin will slow down the development of atherosclerosis to a certain extent, preventing the formation of calcium-protein complexes and damage to the vascular wall. We are conducting preclinical trials of anti-atherosclerosis drugs on transgenic mice. Based on the results of fundamental research conducted over the previous seven years, we assumed that certain drugs that have never been used to treat atherosclerosis, however, can also prevent its development," the researcher said.
