Governor of the Perm Territory Dmitry Makhonin and Rector of St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) Nikolai Kropachev held a working meeting in videoconferencing mode. It was attended by Raisa Kassina, Minister of Education and Science of the Perm Territory, Dmitry Krasilnikov, Rector of the Perm State National Research University (PGNIU), and Pavel Ilyushin, Director of the Perm Scientific and Educational Center "Rational Subsoil Use".

The meeting discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Perm Territory and St. Petersburg State University in various areas, including education and retraining of personnel. The head of Prikamye noted that today the region is using all the opportunities to create joint projects with the largest universities and educational centers of Russia. “In a number of industries, specialists with the latest scientific knowledge are constantly needed. Cooperation with universities and institutes that already have the relevant competencies will help us to provide retraining of professionals working in the region in a short time and solve a number of other problems that require expert assistance, ”said Dmitry Makhonin.

Nikolai Kropachev spoke about the possibilities of the university and proposed to consider the option of cooperation, in which St. Petersburg State University and Perm universities will develop joint programs for the needs of specific industrial enterprises, industries and spheres. In addition, the university as a research center is ready to participate in the development of educational and other products.

As explained by Dmitry Krasilnikov, rector of Perm State National Research University - one of the participants in the REC "Rational Subsoil Use", the proposed format is promising for universities in the region. “Perm University is interested in expanding educational opportunities for talented students of the Kama region. Network programs with leading universities in the country make it possible to form unique curricula and prepare highly qualified competitive specialists who can be employed in the Perm Territory already in the course of training, ”said Dmitry Krasilnikov.

According to him, the development of interuniversity programs is one of the vectors for the development of modern higher education and staffing of the region. PSNIU already has such experience, and the creation of networked educational programs for bachelor's and master's degrees in conjunction with St. Petersburg State University could be a new step to expand educational opportunities.

The Perm REC "Rational Subsoil Use" also has experience of cooperation with major universities, among which, for example, the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia and the Academy of Engineering, which is part of it. Cooperation with a number of other universities is currently being discussed.

The parties agreed that in the coming weeks the Government of the Kama region will prepare a list of specific top-priority sectoral tasks that can be solved in partnership with St. Petersburg State University for further detailed joint study. Also, the university and the region are planning to conclude a cooperation agreement.
