Perm University entered the top 3 in terms of patent activity

According to the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Perm University (PSNIU, participant of the REC "Rational Subsoil Use") entered the top three universities in patent activity in 2022.

PSNIU scientists have received 74 patents for inventions and sent 85 applications to Rospatent. In total, almost 27 thousand applications were submitted to Rospatent over the past year.

One of the drivers of the patent activity of scientists, according to Perm University, was the REC.

"Since 2021, the university has been holding an internal competition for scientific projects implemented within the framework of the Perm REC program "Rational

subsurface use", one of the conditions for participation in it is the submission of applications for inventions. Our scientists actively register everything they invent", –

the head of the Department of Metrology and patenting Alexander Karakulov tells.

The majority of patents in 2022 were obtained by scientists of the Faculty of Chemistry in the field of organic chemistry and pharmacy. In addition, in the leaders

– collectives of the Institute of Natural Sciences (ENI) and the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics. Researchers also often patented their inventions

geological and biological faculties.

Since 2022, the Department of Metrology and Patenting of Perm University has introduced electronic filing of applications. This has significantly reduced the time

office work, according to some patents – from nine months to two.

According to Rospatent, universities in Russia have increased patent activity by 6% on average over the past year.
