The first scientific and Technical Council in 2023, chaired by Governor Sergey Tsivilev, reviewed the results and achievements of the Kuzbass Scientific and Educational Center in 2022. The expanded meeting was attended in person by 308 representatives of universities and research institutes, young scientists, heads of federal and regional high-tech laboratories, representatives of business companies, as well as schoolchildren. 66 audiences joined the event online.

"We are among the top five world-class scientific and educational centers in Russia. There are many scientists in Kuzbass who come up with interesting solutions at a much-needed hour for our country. We will support their ideas and allocate funds for new technologies in order to introduce them to our Kuzbass enterprises as soon as possible. It is very important that this shows a real economic effect. We will evaluate it according to the real final result," said Sergey Tsivilev, the Governor of Kuzbass.

The head of the region noted that every year the number of new products and technologies being introduced, researchers involved in REC projects, long-term agreements with foreign partners is growing. Russia's first comprehensive scientific and technical program of the full innovation cycle "Clean Coal - green Kuzbass" has been approved. Within its framework, 34 breakthrough technologies for the coal industry are being developed, 12 of which will be put into practice this year.

REC "Kuzbass" brings the scientific and technical developments of the region to the world level. In 2022, the Kuzbass center was opened on the basis of the Institute of Technological Innovations in Vietnam — this is the third representative office of the Kuzbass REC in the world, including China and Mongolia.

Summing up the results of the work, the director of the REC "Kuzbass" Irina Ganieva noted that cooperation with industrial partners is actively taking place. So, together with KAMAZ PJSC, the Kuzbass State Technical University named after T. F. Gorbachev is engaged in the creation of high–tech production of autonomous mining dump trucks with a lifting capacity of up to 90 and 240 tons to work in the digital mining system in an open way, and within the framework of the Clean Coal - Green Kuzbass KNTP, KuzSTU engineers are creating an unmanned shuttle-type mining dump truck with a lifting capacity of 220 tons. In 2022, the REC "Kuzbass" became the leader of the Rospatent rating on applications for inventions and on applications for the disposal of rights, overtaking the Tomsk and Novosibirsk regions, the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions.

Great attention is paid in the region to the development of scientific activities of students and young scientists. In 2022, on behalf of the Governor Sergey Tsivilev, a unique competition of youth laboratories was held. 10 laboratories on the basis of Kuzbass universities and scientific institutes received grants for the creation of innovative products. For these purposes, 150 million rubles will be allocated from the regional budget for 3 years.

Sergey Tsivilev noted that in Kuzbass, more and more young people are coming to science and offering their developments that can be useful not only to our region, but also to the whole country. This is the merit of the scientific and educational center as an effective community and a driver of scientific progress in the region.

"We support our scientific student base so that students not only gain knowledge, but also implement scientific ideas in economic sectors," the governor stressed.

Within the framework of interaction with schoolchildren, the REC "Kuzbass" implements the projects "REC Schools" and "Scientific Landing". They are aimed at involving students of the region in the research activities of universities and research institutes, involving them in the search for solutions to problems relevant to the region. To date, 1,236 schoolchildren are engaged in REC schools, 200 young scientists participate in the "Scientific Landing".
