The technological project of the Eurasian REC is actively developing small aircraft

Scientists of the Eurasian REC have created a starter generator for the aviation version of the engine of the project "Aurus" ("Korteg").

The prototype of a new domestic engine for light aircraft, created on the basis of the motor of the car "Aursus", was tested at the Central Institute of Aviation Engine Engineering (CIAM) named after P.I. Baranov (Moscow).

Since 2018, the scientific team of the university participating in the Eurasian REC has been working in this project under the leadership of the CIAM representative Alexander Kostyuchenko: UGATU, which is responsible for creating the starter generator of the engine and its control system. The head of the group, Associate Professor of the Department of Electromechanics Vyacheslav Vavilov was personally present when the engine was started.

Now the development is being implemented by the university within the framework of the technological project "New generation Electric machines for aviation" of the world-class Eurasian REC.

The "Aursus" engine (from the family of executive and high-class cars, previously known under the design designations "Unified Modular Platform" and "Korteg") is the best and most powerful engine produced in Russia, it was ideally suited for transformation into an aviation variant.

Solving the issue with engines will allow the entire small aviation industry to start developing again. The adapted aircraft engine is suitable for agricultural aircraft, small aircraft that carry cargo up to one ton, training vessels and aircraft of local airlines. Therefore, the designers are confident in the demand for a new motor.

The tests were successful, the work continues!
