KemSU scientists (participant of the REC "Kuzbass") developed a method of cognitive training using VR technologies

Today in Russia there is an increase in the number of people with cognitive impairments caused by deterioration of the functional state of the central nervous system, including the neurotropic influence of the COVID-19 virus. Taking into account the urgency of the problem, the staff of the educational and scientific laboratory of cognitive research and Computational linguistics of scientific and innovative management of KemSU has developed a method of cognitive training using VR technologies.

The purpose of this technique is to train cognitive functions (memory, attention, thinking) in persons with deterioration of these characteristics. Now the laboratory staff is testing this technique. Virtual rooms have been created, into which the subject gets through VR technologies and consistently passes them, performing the tasks offered to him. In each of the rooms, certain cognitive characteristics are trained: in the first room, short–term and associative memory and attention are trained, in the next room, convergent thinking, then spatial and logical thinking.

To assess the dynamics of cognitive characteristics and the functional state of the brain, an automated psychophysiological complex and electroencephalography are used before and after training.

The technique has no analogues and is being introduced into the scientific and practical activities of the laboratory with the possibility of obtaining a patent after testing.
