Scientists of Perm Polytechnic University have developed an algorithm for the operation of CNC machines, which allows to reduce defects while maintaining productivity

Researchers of Perm Polytechnic University (PNRPU, participant of REC "Rational Subsoil Use") We have developed an algorithm of control and measurement procedures that helps to increase the productivity of CNC machines used for the manufacture of aircraft and rocket technology.

Numerically controlled machines allow you to program the trajectory of the blade and automatically take into account the wear of the cutting edge.

However, to minimize defects in the manufacturing process of the part, it is necessary to carry out control measurements. A lack of measurements can lead to

low product quality, and excess leads to low equipment performance. Scientists from PNRPU have developed an optimal set of control and measurement procedures for the manufacture of parts on CNC machines.

To increase the productivity of equipment and preserve the quality of products, scientists proposed to introduce automated accounting into the algorithm

the actual dimensional characteristics of the part. This will allow the control program to adjust the actions of the machine depending on whether

whether the product has the specified parameters.

—If, after measuring, the size of the part falls into the tolerance field, a corresponding notification is issued on the rack of the CNC machine and processing continues

according to the specified program. If the size of the part goes beyond the tolerance field and it is possible to modify it, the CNC system calculates the value by

which you need to change the diameter or length of the cutting tool and automatically adjusts the tool wear to its parameters.

The processing of the part is repeated until the correct size is obtained.

If the size of the part does not fit into the set parameters, the program stops and notifies the operator about the marriage, — explains the developer

control algorithm, postgraduate student of the Department of "Innovative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering" Lyubov Myasnikova.

The complex of control and measuring procedures makes it possible to process complex parts on CNC machines in an automatic mode, without operator intervention, qualitatively and accurately, the production of which is necessary, for example, for rocket engineering.

Experimental data confirmed that the introduction of the algorithm into the technological process makes it possible to obtain high-quality parts for rockets,

aircraft and cars, as well as devices used at enterprises of the fuel and energy complex.

— Experimental studies were carried out on the technological equipment of multifunctional metal-cutting 5-axis centers.

A comparative analysis of the developed technological processes taking into account the actual dimensional characteristics of the workpieces during processing showed that this technique contributes to the adoption of effective technological solutions, — says Anna Kameneva, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Innovative Technologies of Mechanical Engineering.

The results of the research, which was carried out within the framework of the academic strategic leadership program "Priority 2030", were published by scientists in the journal "High-tech Technologies in Mechanical Engineering" (No. 11(137), 2022). The development corresponds to the priority scientific and technological the project "Advanced production technologies of aircraft engine building" of the Perm REC.
