Alexey Medvedev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Yuri Kazakov, Director of the Strategic Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, held a working meeting with the heads of research institutes and universities in the region, industrial partners of the Kuzbass REC - the largest industrial companies: KAO "Azot", JSC "Management Company "Kuzbassrazrezugol", JSC "SDS-Ugol", JSC "SUEK-Kuzbass", CJSC "Stroyservice", LLC" OKS-Trade", JSC" RUSAL Novokuznetsk Aluminum Plant", LLC" Production Technology", EVRAZ Division"Siberia". Elena Pakhomova, Deputy Governor of Kuzbass (for Education and Science) and representatives of the Regional Ministry of Education and Science took part in the discussion on cooperation between science and business. During the video conference, representatives of all scientific and educational centers of the country followed the discussion.

During the discussion, representatives of the Federal Ministry assessed the amount of work done in the framework of the implementation of the world-class REC project. Scientific and Educational Center "Kuzbass" in cooperation with participants and industrial partners has achieved more than 100% compliance with target indicators and benchmarks. For example, the indicator "patents for inventions" was fulfilled by 142%, publications of scientific articles in highly rated journals - by 138%, the volume of work on the production of prototypes was 200%. Over the past 12 months, participants of the Kuzbass REC have won 65 grants totaling 475 million rubles, which will be used to modernize the material base of scientific and educational organizations and project activities.

Another point of the visit of representatives of the Federal Ministry was the Research Institute of Complex Problems of Cardiovascular Diseases (NII KPSSZ). Currently, several projects are being implemented here within the framework of the REC case. The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the development and innovative production of medical devices that have no analogues in the world: a heart valve bioprosthesis and small-diameter vascular prostheses for the needs of cardiovascular surgery based on biodegradable polymers.

Cooperation between universities, research institutes and industry within the framework of the Kuzbass Scientific and Educational Center begins to work and bring results ready for commercialization. This is the main result of the work that the Kuzbass REC team managed to achieve.
