In KuzSTU (participant of the REC "Kuzbass") they create a dust and gas control system that has no analogues in the world

Scientists of the Kuzbass State Technical University named after T. F. Gorbachev (KuzSTU) were the first in the world to start developing a comprehensive automated system that integrates all the means of gas and dust control at the enterprise.

The unique dust and gas control system will prevent accidents at mines by automatically monitoring the level of explosive substances in the mine atmosphere. In underground coal mining, an excess of an explosive gas-dust mixture (coal dust, methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen) is a danger. Currently, several types of sensors are used to assess the concentration of hazardous substances to prevent such accidents.

"In the new system, we combine our developments in the field of control and suppression of the gas-dust mixture, which have proven themselves well at enterprises in Russia and abroad, on the basis of the original digital platform "DustGas 2". Such a powerful monitoring tool will allow you to get real-time data on the dust concentration and gas contamination parameters in the mine, which will significantly increase labor safety, " said Alexey Horeshok, Director of the Mining Institute of KuzSTU, Professor.

The software part of the system will be based on a detailed enterprise model assembled from exact "digital doubles" of individual infrastructure elements. According to the developers, this will allow you to visualize in detail the processes occurring in the atmosphere of various sections of the mine.

"As part of the project, it is necessary to finalize the improved DustGas 2 platform, as well as the dust and gas analysis technology using a probing laser beam and test benches for testing explosion – proof mine equipment," Horeshok said.

The industrial partner of the university within the framework of the project is the company "Gorny-TSOT" LLC. The system, as the creators are sure, will be in demand in the markets of countries with a developed coal industry, such as Australia, India, China, Tajikistan and others.

The research is carried out within the framework of the project "Dust and gas control systems for industrial enterprises with a built-in digital platform DustGas" of the integrated scientific and technical program "Clean coal — green Kuzbass" of the world-class REC "Kuzbass".
