In the Research Institute of the CPSSZ (participant of the REC "Kuzbass") conducted the first operation in Russia using a new navigation system

Arrhythmology surgeons of the Research Institute of Complex Problems of Cardiovascular Diseases were the first in Russia to perform operations without X-ray control using the new Columbus 3D navigation system manufactured by the Chinese MicroPort Corporation.

This is a new direction in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias using modern mini-invasive technologies.

Nine patients, including three children, underwent radiofrequency ablation. This is a surgical catheter method for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, the essence of which is the effect of radiofrequency energy on pathological, arrhythmogenic foci in the heart - for their destruction and suppression of activity.

- The operations performed in our clinic are unique in that with the help of navigation, the elimination of arrhythmias is performed in cardiological patients completely without the use of X-rays. The X-ray load carries risks of complications, including oncological ones, and not only in the near, but also in the long term. Previously, such interventions were performed only with the help of X-ray control, now it is excluded, which is very important, especially in children and pregnant women. The operation is performed under local anesthesia, it is absolutely painless for the patient, he is conscious. The rehabilitation period after such interventions is short, and after 1-2 days we are preparing for discharge. The advantage is that we do not just treat the patient, we completely cure him, he becomes absolutely healthy," notes Sergey Mamchur, head of the Laboratory of Rhythm disturbances and electrocardiostimulation of the CPSSZ Research Institute, MD.

The Columbus 3D electrophysiological navigation system provides high accuracy of pathology detection and signal transmission. In order not to use X-ray monitoring, the doctor uses 3D anatomy, which allows you to find arrhythmogenic foci and remove them with a special navigation catheter.

Radiofrequency ablation operations without X-ray control were performed by Nikita Sergeevich Bohan, a cardiovascular surgeon, an arrhythmologist at the CPSSZ Research Institute.
