In Sevastopol, the state of the sea area will be monitored from new buoys in Uchkuyevka and Laspi

Scientists of the scientific and educational center "Moreagrobiotech" installed two new buoys in the water area of Sevastopol to monitor the coastal waters. The system of integrated ecological and climatic monitoring of the coastline was supplemented by measuring buoys in Uchkuyevka and Laspi.

Now the study of the microclimatology of Sevastopol will be conducted from five sea control points for a number of key parameters such as temperature in the water column and on its surface, agitation, turbidity of the water. This will create a digital double of the coastal waters of Sevastopol. It
will combine all data from satellites, weather stations and buoys. The information will be available to citizens and the city Government.

"Next year we plan to expand the environmental monitoring system. 3-4 improved buoys will appear in the Sevastopol water area, which, among other things, will be able to determine the degree of contamination of seawater with petroleum products," said Vladislav Evstigneev, head of the SevSU Digital Twin of the Territory project.

Recall that smart buoys developed by scientists of the REC "Moreagrobiotech" monitor the condition of the Chernorechensk reservoir. Scientists have access to up-to-date information about the temperature and water level, while the data is updated hourly 24/7. These data allow us to quickly monitor the arrival and flow of water, which was especially important in our region during the drought in 2021.
