The university-participant of the Eurasian REC won the competition "Golden Wings MAKS-2021" for the best domestic development in the category "Import Substitution

27/07/2021

The university became the leader in the "Import Substitution" nomination, outstripping more than 60 organizations participating in the competition.

In this nomination, the university presented a new generation engine for operation on aviation kerosene, for aviation applications (including helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles) - an aircraft piston engine DDA - 160, which replaces the line of engines for small aircraft, including ROTAX-912.

“At present, foreign-made aircraft piston engines are used in the class of light and ultralight aircraft. Any disruptions in the supply of new engines or spare parts for them pose a threat to the national security of the country. This determines the need to develop a family of domestic aircraft piston engines for light and ultralight aircraft, including helicopters and "unmanned aerial vehicles" ", said the rector of USATU Sergei Novikov

For several years, the Ufa Aviation University has been developing a unified workflow that allows a piston engine to operate on heavy fuels and gasoline with acceptable efficiency over the entire power range (25 - 500 hp).

To date, a prototype has been manufactured: a unique fuel system (pump-injector) will allow for a multi-fuel workflow. Its performance has been confirmed on both two-stroke and four-stroke engines.

The advantages of the solutions proposed in the project in comparison with analogues existing in the country and abroad are: operation on aviation kerosene and diesel fuel, high power density and low fuel consumption at the level of modern gasoline engines / diesels, lower market cost, as well as use in modern materials that are actively used in serial engines of land / sea transport.

The main objective of the competition is to draw attention to new developments and scientific research in the aerospace industry, to encourage young scientists - participants of the Air Show.

As in previous years, the winners of the competition were determined by secret ballot by an authoritative jury, which included representatives of enterprises and organizations of the aviation industry, public

organizations, mass media, as well as industry experts and employees of Aviasalon JSC. The winners were awarded on July 23 during a solemn ceremony at the site of the exhibition complex.

The organizers of the traditional competition “Golden Wings MAKS-2021” were the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and JSC Aviasalon with the participation of PJSC NPO Nauka.
