Yakut scientists have presented a new invention that supports interest in national culture

The staff of the Pedagogical Institute of Northeastern University has developed a national didactic playing set "Taai" (in transl. from Yakut. language – "guess"), which not only develops imaginative thinking, motor skills and cognitive activity in children, but also contributes to the study, preservation and dissemination of the epic heritage of the Yakut people.

The Taai set is a set of 16 playing cards with images on Yakut national themes: seasons, hunting, everyday life, national decorations and more, as well as 28 flat figures made by 3D printing. On each of the cards there is from one to three colorless silhouettes corresponding to the shapes of the figures in the set.

"The goal of the game is to find the right figures in a bag with one hand in a certain time and cover the silhouettes on the cards with them, and this is only one of the possible scenarios," explained Yuri Kornilov, associate professor of the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering at the NEFU PI.

As the authors of the game noted, in the future the list of scenarios can be expanded, and the figures can be made of wood by laser cutting. The Institute's staff plans new inventions with an emphasis on the national component that supports interest in the national culture, the republic.
