World-class REC "Engineering of the Future" welcomes guests

9/04/2021
Two world-class interregional scientific and educational centers met in Samara: "Engineering of the Future" and "Russian Arctic".

Our northern colleagues have united three regions in the REC: the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk Regions and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which means they face the same difficulties and issues as the "Engineering of the Future", which was co-founded by five regions of the Russian Federation.

In the sphere of interests of the "Russian Arctic": the introduction of new materials and technologies, conducting research that ensures competitiveness and the world level of research and development, training personnel to solve major scientific and technological problems of the region - areas that the participants of the "Engineering of the Future" are working on.

The two RECs had even more topics for communication and ideas for cooperation than could be discussed in one day.

Marat Yeseev - Scientific Director of the REC "RUSSIAN ARCTIK",Lyudmila Siluanova - Vice-Rector for Innovative Development of NARFU, Executive Director of the REC Directorate, Alexey Korotenkov - Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Development, Industry and Science of the Arkhangelsk Region, Dilmurad Yakhyaev - leading expert of the REC Directorate were pleased to visit the Institute of Regional Development - the management company of the world-class REC "Engineering of the Future", the Technopark of Samara Medical University and Samara State Technical University.

At the Medical University, colleagues were impressed by developments in the field of telemedicine, VR technologies and modern analyzers, which were presented by the Vice-rector for Scientific Work Igor Davydkin.

The inaccessibility of the northern regions, extreme weather conditions and distances are ideal conditions where these technologies will be in demand.

Colleagues at Samara Polytechnic University also found interesting projects for themselves. Andrey Pimenov, Vice-Rector for Integration Projects and Vladislav Blatov, Head of the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, presented developments in the field of new materials and ideas for creating autonomous devices for studying the seabed, which are especially needed in the conditions of the Far North.

After talking, the representatives of the REC were convinced that they have much more in common than differences, which means they can improve the project together. Addressing colleagues, Adviser to the Governor of the Samara Region, Director General of the Institute of Regional Development – the management company of the REC "Engineering of the Future" Olga Mikheeva said:

"The annual confirmation of the world-class status will not allow any of the centers to rest on their laurels. The IRR is already working on a number of proposals to improve the project of scientific and educational centers, which we will discuss within the framework of the REC Association, including, of course, with our new friends - the Russian Arctic REC.
