Perm REC promotes the strengthening of relations between oil workers of Russia and Iraq

A meeting of participants and partners with representatives of the Ministry of Oil of Iraq and the Basra Oil Company was held at the Perm Scientific and Educational Center "Rational Subsoil Use".

The meeting was attended by the management and representatives of specialized departments and scientific institutes of Perm Polytechnic University, heads and employees of HR departments of PJSC LUKOIL, LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd (LME) and LLC LUKOIL-Perm, as well as the director of the REC "Rational Subsoil Use" Pavel Ilyushin.

The Iraqi side was represented by the heads of a number of departments of the Ministry of Oil, the Basra Oil Company and the Kirkuk Oil Institute responsible for training and development.
During the meeting, Perm Polytechnic University presented educational programs in the field of oil and gas, which are now available to foreign students. And Iraqi students who are already studying at the university today shared their feedback about the training.

At the moment, more than 500 nonresident and foreign students are studying in the REC areas, most of them are future oil workers from Iraq. In 2020, this indicator increased by 11%.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development of cooperation. In the near future, Perm Polytechnic University will send information to the Ministry of Oil of Iraq about existing and new bachelor's, master's and additional educational programs in English. In turn, the Iraqi department will consider the possibility of including Perm National Research Polytechnic University in the list of approved educational institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, as well as in one of the scholarship programs.
