In 2021, another 97 electrolyzers will be upgraded at RUSAL's Novokuznetsk Aluminum Plant. The amount of funding will amount to 900 million rubles – almost a third more than in 2020.

At the moment, 111 electrolyzers have already been converted to new technologies at the enterprise and 2 " dry " gas treatment plants have been put into operation. The design and working documentation for the construction of two more electrolysis buildings for the 6th series, which will be launched in 2022 and 2024, has been developed.

In 2020, RUSAL won the Vernadsky National Environmental Award in the category "Innovative Eco-efficient Technologies in Industry and Energy" for developing its own technology for dry cleaning of waste gases in aluminum production.

To achieve more efficient operation of dry gas cleaners, RUSAL's scientists and designers combine them with existing wet-type gas cleaning units at the plant, which in total gives a cleaning rate of more than 99% for the main ingredients.

- The NCAZ environmental protection program provides for the transfer of all six buildings of the electrolysis production to new, environmentally efficient technologies "EcoSoderberg" and "Pre-fired anode", developed by the RUSAL Engineering and Technological Center, by the end of 2024, with their connection to dry gas purification units and automatic feed of raw materials. We are fulfilling all the commitments made by the plant under the Clean Air program of the national Ecology project on time and in full, "said Alexander Yakovlev, Director for Ecology, Labor Protection and Industrial Safety of NCAZA.
